Professor
University of Bath, United Kingdom
Randy Mrsny is Professor of Epithelial Cell Biology at the University of Bath. His research focuses on mechanisms that control the trans-epithelial migration of neutrophils, regulation of tight junction structure/function, pancreatic duct cell inflammation and oncogenesis, as well as events that control the fate of biopharmaceuticals injected into the subcutaneous or intramuscular space.
Randy received a B.S. degree in Biochemistry and Biophysics from the University of California at Davis (UCD) in 1977 as a California State Scholar. In 1982, he received a Ph.D. degree in Human Anatomy and Cell Biology from the UCD School of Medicine where he was a National Institutes of Health (NIH) pre-doctoral fellow. From 1982-1985 he was an NIH postdoctoral fellow at the University Oregon Institute of Molecular Biology.
His professional career included stints at ALZA corporation, Genentech, Trinity BioSystems, and Applied Molecular Transport. He has been elected to be Co-Chair for a Gordon Conference on Drug Carriers in Biology and Medicine and elected president of the Controlled Release Society, selected to its College of Fellows, and received its Founders Award.
