My name is Weizhou Yue, and I am currently a research assistant in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Northeastern University and a Ph.D. candidate in the Pharmaceutical Sciences graduate program in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Rhode Island (URI). During summer 2023, I was an ORISE fellow at the Division of Product Quality Research within the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for continuous manufacturing studies of nano-/micro-particle and emulsion products. I obtained my Master of Science degree in Pharmaceutical and Chemical Sciences from the University of the Pacific in 2017. Prior to joining URI, I was a research assistant in Dr. Stanley Prusiner’s Neuroscience Science laboratory at the University of California San Francisco.
I have worked on several research projects involving the development of advanced drug delivery systems for hard-to-treat diseases such as uveal melanoma, glioblastoma and vaginal infections. I have attended five American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) PharmSci 360 annual meetings since 2016. And I was awarded the prestigious International Pharmaceutical Excipients Council (IPEC) Graduate Student Award in 2023 and the AAPS Travelship supported by AstraZeneca in 2021.
I have contributed to project progress reports and grant applications. I have been mentoring junior graduate and undergraduate researchers on multiple research projects. I am currently the Chair-elect of the AAPS-URI student chapter.
