Final Year PhD Researcher
Trinity College Dublin, Ireland
Hi Everyone,
My name is Lena Kadri. I am a final year PhD researcher from the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, under the supervision of Prof. Lidia Tajber.
I am a highly motivated researcher with a strong passion for science and technology. I am extremely passionate about improving the solubility of drugs by utilizing green chemistry, specifically, mechanochemistry/tribochemistry. My career ambition is to work in the discovery and development of drugs, and to help address the challenges that presently face the medical world today. I was extremely fortunate to have undertaken placements at AbbVie, Cork, Ireland and Chicago, USA and Zentiva, Prague, Czech Republic, before and during my PhD studies.
My current rearch is on improving the solubility of poorly soluble BCS Class II fluoroquinolone drugs by forming amorphous solid dispersions and amorphous polymeric salts, while implementing green chemistry. Additionally, I am working on developing a kinetic understanding of BCS Class I and II fluoroquinolone drugs.
My poster will be on levofloxacin, a complex fluoroquinolone drug and its organic solvent-free journey to amorphization. The two processes involved are ball milling and spray drying, without the use of any excipients. However, feel free to drop by to discuss past, present and future work regarding this topic. I promise, things get a lot more interesting! Looking forward to discussing some compelling research with you!
