Peter Burkard was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He earned his B.S. in biomedical engineering from UC Davis in 2016. His undergraduate research focused on exploring the transmission of symbiotic bacteria in Drosophila populations. He began his professional career at BioMarin, where he supported commercial manufacturing and its release testing by developing and validating highly sensitive activity assays. These experiences led him to his current role in Bioanalytical Sciences, where he designs molecular techniques and immunoassays to guide the design and interpretation of non-clinical studies. He’s a passionate scientist who enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for single cell sequencing at an interest group he founded. He enjoys trail running, trying new recipes, and playing fetch with his dog in his free time.
