Jyotsna Godavarthi is a Ph.D. student at Texas Southern University majoring in pharmaceutical sciences. She is a pharmacist turned pharmaceutical scientist with expertise in in-vivo and in-vitro drug testing, cancer genetics, xenograft tumor models, biochemical and molecular biology techniques. She had a master's degree in pharmacology and bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from India. Prior to starting her PhD, she worked at Hospira Healthcare India Pvt. Ltd. (a Pfizer company) as a validation executive where she led validation of visual inspection and packaging equipment. After graduation, she intends to work in a pharmaceutical industry to follow her passion of exploring the intricacies of drug discovery and development by understanding the biology of cancer and to develop effective therapeutic agents in the age of molecularly guided medicine. Off campus, she is a senior fellow at Albert Schweitzer Fellowship addressing vaccine hesitancy in East Harris County by establishing a training program for predominantly Spanish-speaking minority populations, especially those with young children and small business owners, to not only get more comfortable getting vaccinated, but also to teach others about COVID-19 testing and vaccination.
