PhD Graduate Student
Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey
My name is Gaurang Patel. I am a Part time PhD student at the Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. I currently work for Amneal Pharmaceuticals in Bridgewater, New Jersey in the Formulation R&D division of Amneal Complex Products Research. I have received my Master’s degree in Industrial Pharmacy from Long Island University, Brooklyn, NY, USA.
My key interests are into areas of pharmaceutical technology including particle engineering, formulation development and characterization, optimization of process, physicochemical and clinical evaluation of novel formulations for oral delivery. My PhD research work is majorly focused on developing and evaluating advanced polymer based amorphous solid dispersion system to enhance drug stability and improve drug loading and in-vitro supersaturation performance. This will help advance future amorphous solid dispersion-based products with reduced pill burden and improved stability.
As a project lead, I have developed and filed about 20 products which have received approval under ANDA 505b(j) regulatory pathway. I am quite proficient with techniques such as wet and dry granulation, direct compression, fluid bed granulation/ bead layering, dry powder bead layering, hot-melt extrusion, and spray-drying technology for the preparation of complex solid oral dosage forms.
