Polyvinyl Alcohol/Chitosan Single-Layered and Polyvinyl Alcohol/Chitosan/Eudragit RL100 Multi-layered Electrospun Nanofibers as an Ocular Matrix for the Controlled Release of Ofloxacin: an In Vitro and In Vivo Evaluation
Eye drops, although frequently used, carry significant drawbacks such as poor bioavailability, frequent administration, blurred vision, and the inclusion of preservatives. Nanofiber inserts, devoid of added preservatives, offer a solution to these challenges and also provide sustained drug release behaviour with less toxicity. These inserts, positioned within the ocular cul-de-sac, leverage their size, tailored shape, and substantial surface-to-volume ratio to enhance ocular drug delivery.
