Dr. Marroum obtained his pharmacy degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1984 and a Ph.D. in pharmacokinetics from the University of Florida in 1990. In 1991, he joined the FDA as a reviewer in the Division of Biopharmaceutics. In 1995 he became the team leader in clinical pharmacology and Biopharmaceutics for the Cardio-Renal team. In 2000 Dr. Marroum became the FDA Regulatory Science Expert on in vivo in vitro correlations for modified release formulations. In 2008 Dr. Marroum became the Head of the Biopharmaceutics Group in the Office of New Drug Quality where he was responsible for all the review, policy and research activities related to Biopharmaceutics and evaluation of the quality of the formulation. In 2011, Dr. Marroum became an independent consultant for the pharmaceutical industry. In April 2014, Dr. Marroum took a senior director position in Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics at Abbvie. In August 2020, Dr. Marroum became a Distinguished Research Fellow within Abbvie.
