Dr. Sashana Dixon is a Research Associate Instructor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Science at NSU’s Barry and Judy Silverman College of Pharmacy. She received her BSc degree in Basic Medical Science with a specialization in Pharmacology from the University of the West Indies. She also completed a doctoral degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a specialization in Molecular Medicine and Pharmacogenomics from Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Dixon’s primary research is on understanding the effect of metformin on redox-related metabolic pathways in prostate cancer. Her research interests are focused on understanding the role of various cellular metabolic pathways such as glutathione synthesis and one carbon cycle in various cancers as well as exploring these pathways for potential therapeutic targets.
