Dr. Melanie Felmlee is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Medicinal Chemistry, and Director of the Pre-Pharmacy Advantage Program in the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy, University of the Pacific. She obtained her PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University at Buffalo in 2011. Her research interests are in the areas of drug transport, pharmacokinetics and pharmacogenomics. Current projects in her laboratory are investigating the role of biological sex and sex hormones on monocarboxylate transporter expression, and the resulting functional changes on drug pharmacokinetics and toxicity, and the developmental regulation of monocarboxylate transporters in pediatric obesity. Dr. Felmlee is the author of over 30 peer-reviewed publications and abstracts, and was awarded the AACP New Investigator Award in 2017. She is a member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) and the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).
