Mikayla Smith is a 2021-2025 Madison & Lila Self Graduate Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Kansas. She earned a B.S. (2020) in Pharmaceutical Studies and a M.S. (2022) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from the University of Kansas. Her current research focuses on modulating the dissolution of drugs whose physical characteristics limit their dosage form and administration, as well as on the impact of excipient selection and potential excipient interactions on drug release. Ultimately, her goal is to increase patient accessibility and patient outcomes by improving the development of oral formulations through spray-drying techniques.
