Principal Research Scientist
Abbvie, Germany
Frank Theil is working in analytical R&D of AbbVie Germany for more than 8 years and is currently head of physical analytical chemistry Germany. After finishing his PhD at the Leibniz-Institute of Photonic Technologies, with an emphasis on spectroscopy and theoretical chemistry, Frank started a PostDoc at AbbVie Germany. His research area at AbbVie was centered on ASD characterization and stability. Frank has explored different innovative methods to characterize crystallinity in ASDs (i.e. µCT, TRS) and has conducted multiple investigations on ASD long term stability. His work on ASD crystallization lead to methods to manufacture samples with distinct crystalline content for dissolution testing and risk assessment strategies.
In his most recent research, Frank is investigating API-Polymer interactions in ASDs and investigating speciation after dissolution with new analytical technologies.
