Sharon Vijayanand, B. Pharm., is a Graduate Research/ Teaching Assistant in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Mercer University. She works in the Vaccine Nanotechnology Laboratory in the College of Pharmacy. Her Ph.D. thesis research work focuses on developing and testing inactivated microparticle vaccines for COVID-19 and Influenza and their administration using novel vaccination approaches such as microneedles (transdermal vaccination), oral dissolving films (buccal vaccination), and nasal drops (intranasal vaccination). Her career goal is to develop and establish a needle-free vaccination strategy that can be widely used for vaccination against various infectious diseases.
